Downtown Alpharetta Update: New Dining Options and What's Coming Next

Downtown Alpharetta keeps proving why it's one of the most sought-after places to live, eat, and invest in North Fulton. As always, I like to keep our Curtin Team family in the loop on what's opening, what's changing, and what's on the horizon. Here's what's new.

Tre Fratelli Brings Authentic Italian to Downtown

If you haven't been to Tre Fratelli yet, put it on your list. This new Italian spot in the heart of downtown Alpharetta is the work of partners Marcus Bifaro and Chef David Soon, who set out to create what they call a true neighborhood restaurant — comfort food with real Italian roots, not the red-sauce-and-nothing-else version. Marcus is a familiar face in downtown dining circles, having previously owned South Main Kitchen just down the street — so he knows firsthand what it takes to build a restaurant that becomes a true neighborhood gathering spot.

Diners are already raving about the chicken parm, the penne vodka, and the short rib ragu, but if you only order one thing to start, make it the ricotta dumplings. They're a can't-miss way to kick off the meal, and a perfect example of the "comfort food done right" approach the team is going for. Chef Soon has also been known to come out and chat with tables about the menu — a nice touch that fits right into the neighborhood feel downtown is known for.

A New Chapter for the Old Jekyll Brewing Space

Jekyll Brewing closed all of its locations last year. The location at Alpharetta City Center has a new tenant. Amasa Mexican Kitchen, a Baja-inspired concept from the team behind Buena Vida Tapas & Sol and Chicheria Mexican Kitchen, is set to open there this summer. Expect a seafood-forward, fully gluten-free menu and a serious tequila program — another strong addition to the growing list of dining options at City Center. I can eat tacos just about every day! 

Big Things Coming to Roswell Street (in Alpharetta)

Looking just down the road, there's a significant mixed-use project taking shape at the gateway to downtown. Alpharetta District Places is preparing to break ground at the end of May on 2.4 acres along Roswell Street, between Old Milton Parkway and Marietta Street. Phase one calls for roughly 34,000 square feet of retail and dining space, designed to match the architectural character of the downtown Heritage District — with move-ins targeted for mid-2027.

The developer has also floated a second phase that could bring 195 for-rent residential units to the site, though that piece is still being finalized based on market conditions and community feedback on traffic and building height. Either way, this project is being built to leverage the Alpha Loop's pedestrian connectivity, meaning it should be an easy walk from a lot of our downtown neighborhoods — the kind of walkable, "know your barista" lifestyle upgrade that continues to make downtown Alpharetta such a draw for buyers.
